Description





Under the supervision of the Director of Educational Services, the education consultant will be responsible for providing guidance and support with the implementation, development, and evaluation of appropriate instructional materials and tools for educators at the elementary and secondary levels. The work of the consultant will focus upon the integration of technology in various pedagogical contexts; in particular, providing ongoing support to school and center educators in the application of technology to support programs of study (curriculum); to facilitate class management and organization; and, to enhance learning materials and strategies in the classroom.



GENERAL FUNCTION & DUTIES:

  • Support and ensure high quality and culturally relevant education in ESSB school communities, specifically with the integrated use of technological tools and materials;

  • Participate in the development of programs and pedagogical material in conjunction with sub- ject specialists and educators;

  • Develop learning and evaluation situations as well as complementary materials for educators;

  • Help align classroom resources and materials with current programs of study (QEP);

  • Lead training sessions / workshops for educators;

  • Accompany individuals and teams of educators with pedagogical adaptations and innovative use of technology for teaching and learning;

  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings for the purposes of establishing interventions where technology may support adaptations, engagement and assessment;

  • Collaborate with team members and partners on the development of materials, resources and strategies that support strong pedagogical approaches and student achievement;

  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies, including software and assistive technology, digital learning materials, tools and equipment, platforms, etc;

  • Support the purchase of technology for the purposes of teaching and learning, and follow-up on inventories of technology found in schools and centers;

  • Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of the DAP and board-wide poli- cies and procedures pertaining to the role of education consultant;

  • Support the use of distance technology and guide remote teaching and learning;

  • Represent Eastern Shores School Board and Educational Services at various partnership tables (local, regional and provincial);

  • Work closely with external partners to address the particular needs of ESSB educators and students, including the MEQ, the RECIT network, and LEARN;

  • Develop and oversee projects related to effective use of technology by ESSB educators;

  • Carry out related tasks at the discretion of the immediate supervisor.









Requirements





  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate specialty, notably education.

  • Experience as a teacher

  • Excellent written and verbal skills

  • Excellent computer skills including use of various platforms and interfaces Knowledge of hardware and technological infrastructures

  • Bilingualism is an asset

  • A driver's license and a car for travel as required by the duties of the position
