Under the general supervision of the Director General, the Human Resources Manager provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the Human Resources department. This role ensures compliance with federal and provincial labour laws, including the Canada Labour Code and CNESST standards, while managing workforce planning, labor relations, performance management, and health and safety initiatives. This position promotes employee engagement, professional development, and operational efficiency through hands-on involvement in salary administration and training.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop and maintain HR policies, procedures, and operational strategies that align with organizational goals.
• Collaborate with department heads on workforce planning, succession strategies, and manpower budgets.
• Create new pay scales when required to meet evolving industry standards and ensure competitive
compensation.
• Ensure compliance with CNESST standards and develop safety initiatives aligned with provincial and
organizational guidelines.
• Monitor and evaluate HR programs, providing regular updates and recommendations to the Director General.
• Lead annual performance evaluations, talent management programs, and improvement plans
• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business
Administration, Occupational Health & Safety, or a
related field required; master’s degree preferred.
• At least eight years of progressive experience in HR
management, including experience with health and
safety programs.
• Strong knowledge of Canada Labour Code,
CNESST standards, and health and safety
regulations.
• Excellent professional verbal and written
communication skills in English.
• Exceptional interpersonal, conflict resolution, and
negotiation skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with
experience managing safety risks.
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to
manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and
confidentiality.
• Proficient with Microsoft 365 and experienced with
HRIS systems.
• CHRP designation is an asset,
• Knowledge of Mi’kmaq and French is considered an
asset
